Things just got even more exciting. Not only can our young residents make a splash in the community pool this summer — but one of Houston’s biggest waterparks will be opening in less than an hour drive from home. Big Rivers Waterpark and Gator Bayou Adventure Park attractions, a part of the Grand Texas complex, are scheduled to open this June.
Grand Texas is an entertainment, dining, and shopping destination under development 40 miles northeast of Rosehill Reserve. When construction is complete, Grand Texas will comprise the Houston area’s largest amusement park, a waterpark, an outlet mall, a shopping and dining promenade, hotels, and more, providing the area’s biggest and best destination for the entire family.
The two attractions opening this year are the first scheduled openings for the 632-acre entertainment venue. Big Rivers will feature attractions, such as slides, raft rides like “Storm Surge,” a wave pool, a splash pad and a lazy river. Construction on Grand Texas’ namesake amusement park and a sports complex is expected to begin when Big Rivers is completed.
According to a news release, passholders receive unlimited access to Big Rivers Waterpark whenever it is open to the public, as well as access to Gator Bayou’s Wild Isle, Gator Gulch Alligator Exhibit and Big Al’s Fishing Hole. Passholders also receive discounts on individual Gator Bayou tickets, food, beverages and merchandise purchased in the parks.
